Photo's from Cwn Panmachno

Post by Gill Henry on Mon Oct 07, 2013 11:26 pm

I thought it might be nice to share some photo’s I’d got the club’s walk at  Cwm Penmachno this Sunday. Thanks to Kevin for arranging it!   I’ve edited the photo’s in lightroom and whilst some lack sharpness throughout, there’s one I’ve sharpened too much, some are a little dark and so forth.
The photo’s are more for letting other members seeing what we get up to and where we go, plus I often wonder what other members photographed on these days out.  Is it possible to start a feedback thread where club members can upload their photo’s from the days out?

I’m really happy with how some of these photographs have turned out, my main focus when photographing was to focus on getting the composition right, everything else went out the window lol.
Either way, it was a great walk, hope you like the photo’s

I agree more at http://gw7mgw.freeiz.com/Cwm_Panmachno2.html the picture I selected was a Panorama and it does not seem to show it all on here. Tried left click and show image and it shows far more. Or view on web site linked to and again clicking on image enlarges once finished to goes to last years web site of same walk.

My three favourites for the day. I have had problems with colour and processing in general and have already started to re-work some of the pictures with Mondays comp I realise some are over sharp. Also getting the chimney straight how it became curved I will never know. This is the picture before and after Photoshop   to the right straight out of camera. How did it bend the chimney? Also any advice on top edge of chimney with the slight colour haze?

The left hand picture is the better one Eric.
Try sample pictures using the same lens, you may have a problem with the lens.
Mushroom not in focus fully, again may be the lens set up you have.
Other pictures look fine, plenty of content good layout.
Colours look fine on my monitor.

It looks like you all had a good day.Very Happy

Thanks I did not consider lens however I did select the Tamron lens profile in Photoshop and I have noticed some vignetting with the lens. The Nikon D7000 and Tamron 18 - 270 mm lens use a completely different autofocus to the Pentax K10D. But I think the problem with the mushroom was I was sinking fast so had to spend less time then I would have liked setting it up.

Biggest problem with pictures taken is colour. Slowly working through them all again and taking a little more time getting them right. I had decided to use just the Nikon D7000 mainly as single lens will do for all and ISO is higher so thought I could get away without tripod. I was wrong had quite a few failures when using near the 270mm limit. Hind sight should have carried tripod rather than Ginger Beer.
