To do list

Post by Maintenance on Thu May 20, 2010 8:49 am

Just creating an area to keep a to do list so it can be crossed off as and when tasks are completed.

1. Decision about usernames - ammend T&C's to suit

I think usernames are a good idea. Can the user still use their full name if they so wish?

users can have any name they wish, username or full name. There is a facility to change usernames but is currently set so that one of the admin team will have to do it. It saves confusion if someone decides to change their name regularly.

Well done and thank you for creating this Forum. I am sure all the MCC members will make use of it and welcome the facility.

Keep up the good work.

Cheers

Hi just created my profile had a quick look around and agree with your opinion about admin, I feel there should be 2 admin persons so if one is away then it will still be managed.
Are we having an event calendar and a newsletter page?? I feel this will encourage members to use the forum to receive club updates.
If you want any help then please let me know.

Hi Steve, thanks for posting. Lets hope we can give it a good run through before the rest of the members join so that we have a fully functioning site for them.

Hi Gary.

Yes and Yes. There is a calendar facility, which I think would be put to good use. An area could be created where the newsletter is posted each month (possibly as an attachment?)

Thanks for your offer of help, it will more than likely be taken up.

Thanks

Hi Ann-Marie

I have had a play around with the Avatar's - all functional.

An event for the calendar - 7pm 21 June The Chester round of the City-Centre (Cycle race) Tour series (also on TV the following night ITV4)

I may add something to the 'for sale' section for assessment.

Regards

Thanks Steve Very Happy

I've added the calendar but for some reason it wants to be linked to forum posts rather than adding details straight into the calendar. I'll do some research and find out how it's supposed to function.

OK, the calendar is now working. The odd thing with this calendar is that it is set up to make a post in the forum about the event entered on the calendar. Bizarre, but that's just the way this one works.

All members will be able to post on the calendar by clicking the little blue square at the bottom of each date.

If you want to have a play with it and see how it works, please feel free.

Steve, can you try entering the date and details you posted in your message above mine please.

Ta Very Happy

I can't see a little blue square at the bottom of each date. I am entering the Calendar using the tab at the top of the screen, selecting the date but no blue square.

Oh that's a pain. It seems that only admins can enter dates into the calendar! There have been complaints about it on the support forum, but at the moment, no solution.

If we want to use the calendar members will have to send a message or post in the forum so that whoever is instated as admins can add the dates.

Frustrating that it won't work the way we want it to

I suggest we keep the number of admin users down for now. I am happy to take the role of admin for the calendar as I need to have the same information for the Newsletter and do supply it to Phil for the website, so it wont be any extra work to keep the forum calendar up to date.

Chris, I've just noticed that when making a new post (not replying to an existing post) under the file attachment section of the new post there is an area that says calendar event. I don't know if it's only visable to admin or everyone. Could you let me know if you can see it when trying to make a new topic. You don't have to make a new topic post, just click the button as if you were going to.

Under the 'Forum, Guidelines and Regulations' and then subsection 'Site Usage'

It could be worth mentioning that a huge selection of Avatars are available for use under:

Click on the blue button above the image.

Click on 'Select Avatar' to activate.

Thanks for that Steve. Very Happy

It might be an idea to compile some sort of How To section for various things that members might need to know, such as profile settings (including avatar) how to attach files, or post images and links in a forum post, or even how to make or reply to a forum post. Some of our members might like to use the site but may not be used to using forums. Something to discuss at the meeting I think. I have a list going Wink

This is just a test to check my signature works - I could not work out why I could not get it to work and found the box in 'attach my signature' was not active.

Hi Chris

Thanks for the great idea.

It would be breaking the rules if the person could not take a joke. I, for one, feel the Forum could/should be inundated with humour.
